Terms of Use
Last updated 4 November 2026
1. Acceptance
By creating an account, obtaining an API key or calling the UniversityDB API (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it to these Terms.
2. Accounts and API keys
You must provide accurate information when signing up and keep your password and API keys confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account and keys. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use and revoke compromised keys from your dashboard.
3. Plans and limits
The Free plan allows 50 API requests per day per account, reset at midnight India Standard Time. The Pro plan offers unlimited requests and is granted at our discretion after you submit an application. We may change plan features or limits with reasonable notice, and may downgrade or suspend accounts that abuse the Service.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to: attempt to bypass rate limits (for example by creating multiple free accounts); resell or redistribute the full dataset as a competing directory or API; interfere with or overload the Service; reverse engineer authentication; or use the Service for unlawful, misleading or discriminatory purposes.
5. Data and attribution
Institution data is compiled and maintained through research by the UniversityDB team, including short names, aliases and search ranking. You may use API results within your own products. Where practical, credit “Data: UniversityDB”.
6. No warranty
The Service and data are provided “as is” and “as available”. Institution details may be incomplete, outdated or inaccurate. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that results are fit for any particular purpose, including admissions, degree verification or legal decisions. Verify critical information with the institution.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, UniversityDB will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or ₹1,000 if you paid nothing.
8. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, with or without notice. Sections 5–9 survive termination.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
